Bridgit: Case Study

From Alpha To Better

Bridgit is a Chrome extension in its Alpha stage.

It allows everyone to collect content from various web pages and connect them together.

This action is called “bridging”.

Project Goals

Design a prototype for an online tool in its Alpha stage so users can “bridge” specific online content (video, Text, and Images) and then bridge them to other content on other web pages.

Project Goals

Design a prototype for Bridgit in its Alpha stage so users can “bridge” specific online content (video, Text, and Images) and then bridge them to other content on other web pages.

Problem

Almost everyone uses the internet to watch video, but no one can easily create links from specified ranges of video timelines to other videos or other media. In addition to the challenge of navigating a ton of content, ads and pop-ups also add noise to the system, which creates a chaotic and disorganized experience. A tool that cuts through this clutter and allows users to create connections between snippets of video and also to other media would help them to consume content in useful and meaningful ways.

It takes a lot of time to search for free resources of quality.
It’s expensive to explore different career paths or interests.
Knowing the quality of a videos contents can be difficult.
Saving courses from multiple sites can be hard to keep track of.

Solutions

Design a tool that enables users to create meaningful and useful connections between multiple content including video to video, text to video, images to video and more. This will empower users with the ability to organize their interests in a way that hasn’t been possible yet. Users will be able to easily curate valuable content that will help them to learn new skills, follow current and relevant topics, organize academic research, and help them complete tasks. And design a automation feature that allows users to simply click on a play button that will automate the content within a bridge.

Create a site that collects courses and tutorials from other sites.
Let the users decide why they are wanting to learn material and then proved them with suggestions.
Show reviews for instructors and courses.

Bridge a segment of video content to text

Difficulties with Product

Users felt the UI needed refinement in terms of font size, padding, etc

Iteration

Adjusted font sizing, increased lead space and padding, and more to contribute to visual aesthetics

Difficulties with Product

Users felt confused with the ‘+ add’ icon in ‘selections’ screen

Iteration

Removed icon but kept a notification that more bridges may be added if desired. Used dots to show bridge connection instead

“”I hated Bridgit before, now that it’s so easy to use I will do my research with it ASAP. I’ll be telling my friends about it.”
