A little bit about myself.
My name is René Diaz and I'm passionate about improving and empowering the lives of others through design. I'm constantly pushing myself to learn new things everyday and discovering ways to merge my love of helping others and drive to design powerful tools to improve people’s lives and create “Life Experience Designs".
It's not just a job, it's a way of life.
I transition into UX and Product Design from my previous career of over 10 years as an instructor and practitioner of holistic therapies to merge my love of helping others and drive to design powerful experiences to empower and improve people’s lives and create “Life Experience Designs".
Previously as a therapist I would seek out and treat the source of the patients pathogenesis, not just put "bandages" to alleviate the symptoms.
I bring this mindset to Product Design to quickly get to the source of the problem and create an amazing user experience that also benefits the company.
Going into Product Design from my previous career was a natural transition for me because they have a lot in common. One main example, whether it is creating a treatment plan for patients, creating and organizing workshops globally, or designing an IoT or Health app, I always follow the process of User-centered design and the model of research-design-test-iterate-repeat.
Other similarities include problem spotting and solving, user/patient empathy, dedication to getting the best results, future thinking/planing, a big-picture vision, and meticulous attention to details.
Passion is my everything.
Find what drives you, what makes you come alive. Then it is not work, it is your life journey which you get to experience and share with others. I'm fortunate to have found my calling and be able to use it to help transform lives, my own included, while being inspired and surrounded by motivated people who love what they do. too. We only have so much time on this earth to live - live it fully.
As a teacher I take pride in being a student first and foremost. We are constant works in progress that need to receive feedback in order to grow. I am always looking at ways to challenge myself and grow, which is why in my spare time I'm learning some new skill, in a hackathon, work on new projects, and attend meetups.
Embrace your creativity.
We all need a creative outlet of some sort - play with the muses as I like to call it. When I'm not designing, I'm writing and producing music, creating mixed medium artworks, exploring new places and connecting with the locals, flying high above paragliding or diving into the deep blue seas.
Respect is not earned, respect is the cornerstone of all relationships and should be offered to each and everyone of us. We all share the same fundamental wants and needs and we all face our own challenges and battles. Stay true to yourself and stay true to others, STAY HUMAN.
